International mobilisation to save Boeung Kak Lake Residents from Eviction

A demonstration at the Municipality of Phnom Penh marked the start of a week of demonstrations around Asia on behalf of the embattled lakeside residents.
“Save Cambodia’s Boeung Kak Lake Residents from eviction,” chanted groups of urban poor, belong to LOCOA and Four Region Slum Network protesting in front of Cambodia and Chinese Embassies in various countries in a show of solidarity.
Philippines, Urban Poor Oppose Restoration of Anti-Squatting Law
Urban poor gathered before Congress at Quezon City, Batasan Road today to oppose House Bill 2145, This is a bill amending Republic Act no. 8368, otherwise known as the “Anti-Squatting Law Repeal Act of 1997.” With them were the Task Force Anti-Eviction group composed of Urban Poor Associates (UPA), Community Organization of the Philippine Enterprise (COPE), Community Organizers Multiversity (COM) and Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Pangligal (SALIGAN).

AMH(FSM, 2011, Encuentro Preliminar del Comité Promotor de Bangladesh2 de septiembre de 2010, Dacca, BangladeshCon ocasión del primer encuentro del Comité Promotor de Bangladesh de la Asamblea Mundial de Habitantes-AMH / FSM Dakar, Senegal (De Dacca a Dakar), que se celebró el pasado jueves 2 de septiembre de 2010 en la oficina del Shelter for the Poor en Dacca, Bangladesh, nosotros, los participantes, que representamos distintas organizaciones de habitantes (organizaciones no gubernamentales que trabajan por el derecho a la vivienda y la t), hemos decidido compartir nuestras experiencias tanto en lo relativo al derecho a la vivienda como en sus violaciones.Por este motivo, tanto nuestros compañeros como los principales responsables de diferentes organizaciones de habitantes que participaron en distintas actividades han compartido sus propias experiencias y las luchas continuas para enfrentar el desafío que supone el enfoque gubernamental de desalojar sin medidas alternativas.

Con motivo de la Asamblea de Habitantes de Asia (ACA, por sus siglas en inglés) celebrada entre el 18 y el 22 de agosto de 2010 en Bangalore, India, nosotros, los participantes, en representación de las diferentes organizaciones y redes de habitantes, nos hemos reunido para compartir las respuestas a los desalojos, las estrategias y las alternativas que nuestras comunidades han presentado ante sus respectivos gobiernos con el fin de proteger las tierras y las viviendas de las familias afectadas.

Esta nueva etapa de construcción de la Asamblea Mundial de Habitantes (AMH) tendrá lugar del 18 al 23 de agosto de 2010 en la ciudad de Bangalore, India, precedida de un importante preestreno el 16. En esta etapa nos reencontraremos con las organizaciones de habitantes de los barrios populares de Delhi comprometidos con la lucha contra los desalojos como consecuencia de los próximos Juegos del Commonwealth.

Evicted families, especially women, residing along Road 10 in Navotas City, Metro Manila, Philippines are appealing for solidarity and support. On January 18 to 20, and then on March 4 to the present, (March 12) the Philippine Department of Public Works and Highways and the City Government of Navotas have conducted demolition operations for the purpose of widening the road. To date, the homes of some 393 families of the targeted 1,000 families have been demolished.

Cambodia: Forced Eviction of the Reak Reay Community in Phnom Penh

16 March 2009 At least 60 families living in the Reak Reay community, Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkarmon district, Phnom Penh, are facing imminent forced eviction. The families have been residing in the prime-city location since the 1990s, and have valid rights to the land under the Cambodian Land Law. The families have been resisting forced eviction attempts by Bassac Garden City and Canadia Bank since 2005. Appeal to the international solidarity
