Activist of cheated investors killed in Saint Petersburg

Last october 6 Saint Petersburg witnessed a murder

Konstantin Andreev, the husband of a militant activist of the cheated investors movement, has died due to wounds suffered by him as a result of assault and battery. The International Alliance of Inhabitants has sent his condolences and complete solidarity, condemning this murder, demanding that are caught and brought to justice the killers, and declaring that they would inform the UN Special Rapporteur for the Right to Housing.

Konstantin Andreev, the husband of a militant activist of the cheated investors movement, has died today due to wounds suffered by him as a result of assault and battery. His wife, Alla Andreeva, who is believed to be the informal leader of the Cheated Investors movement in Saint Petersburg (Russia), reported that she has been threatened by unknown persons who promised that she would be next on the death list.

Konstantin Andreev was found  near his house with a craniocerebral injury in his head.

He and Alla Andreeva are reported to have had a number of conflicts with management of the ‘’Gorod’’ real estate and construction company.

‘’Today at night a horrible event has been reported. The husband of Alla, our activist, suffered a blow into his head. This happened near his house. Those bastards had written on Alla’s car: ‘’you will be next ‘’  – some activists of the local cheated investors organization are quoted as saying (see the picture below).

It is reported that the murder has taken place in the Petrodvortsovy district of Saint Petersburg, which is located in the close vicinity to Russian President’s summer residence in Strelna.

About ten p.m. Andreev returned home from a fitness center and parked his car. When he was doing this, he was dealt a blow on his head by an unknown person. The ambulance paramedical staff that had arrived at the scene following the attack failed to save Andreev’s life.

Alla Andreeva, Konstantin Andreev’s wife, has actively been fighting for the rights of minor investors cheated by the Gorod company.

She reportedly bought an apartment in one of those new estate projects which is notorious for its unfinished and abandoned construction sites.

Earlier, Alla Andreeva claimed that her car had been burned down.

City Government has asked to take this case under special scrutiny

A group of deputies of Saint Petersburg City Hall have stated that they intend to ask Sergey Umanov, Chief of the city police, that this case be taken under his personal special scrutiny. Igor Albin, City Vice Governor, has also appealed to Mr. Umnov and Sergey Litvinenko, City Prosecutor, to take special heed of this case. Mr. Albin is responsible in City Government for issues connected with construction and small investors’ problems.

During a telephone talk with Alla Andreeva, Mr. Albin has promised that all necessary aid will be rendered to her family in the preparations for a funeral procedure.

Alla Andreeva is said to be a permanent member of a working group that follows cases of cheating small investors in Saint Petersburg and has actively been cooperating with state authorities and agencies, including the Center for Assistance to Construction, a special purpose city government agency, and management of the Gorod company on the issues of construction of uncompleted residential projects such as the Leninsky Park, Pribaltiysky and Sea Star projects.

This case of murder has been the first over a twenty years long history of the Russian small investors’ struggle for their rights against construction companies and contractors that are reported to be involved in many fraudulent construction schemes.

The number of small investors in Saint Petersburg cheated by various construction and estate companies has reportedly increased up to 682 people by now.
