Organized for the first time on the earth of the World Zero Evictions Days on 2011, the International Tribunal on Evictions (ITE) is an opinion Tribunal based on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and other international legal instruments related to the enforcement of the right to housing and land. The 5th  session of ITE aims to present cases of housing rights violations taking place around the world to a panel of reference persons meeting in Quito which will issue a judgment and make recommendations to the economic and institutional actors responsible for the evictions, and to civic organizations helping them enforce their demands by the authorities.

VENUE : Paraninfo Che Guevara at Universidad Central de Ecuador, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Sciencias Politicas

DAY : Monday 17th  October 2016

WHEN : 9h-17h

The aim is to strengthen the recognition, the proposals and the struggles against violations of housing rights at local, national and global level including deportations of people from their homes and their land. It also aims to highlight the threats and violence of any kind perpetrated against human rights defenders.

Each one of the 88 cases submitted around the world are all respected struggles in the fight for achieving adequate housing rights, peace, and human dignity.
