Il 24 gennaio 2007 ha avuto luogo a Nairobi, nell’ambito del FSM, un incontro di convergenza dei movimenti sociali urbani che operano nel campo del diritto alla casa e alla città, incontro proposto congiuntamente da HIC e IAI. Partecipanti: circa 200 rappresentanti di movimenti provenienti da 20 paesi dell’Africa, dell’Europa, dell’America Latina, dell’America del Nord e dell’Asia; inoltre, autorità locali membri del FAL.

UK, Councillors vote to evict travellers from Dale Farm

We won't go, No pasaran, Zero Eviction at Dale Farm, UK (April 2011) Travellers and Romany people from across Europe have protested against the planned evictions. Travellers and Romany people will be forcibly removed from an illegal site in Essex if they do not leave voluntarily, councillors have decided. Basildon council's development control and traffic management committee voted to take direct action at Dale Farm, between Billericay and Basildon. The committee also voted to take out an injunction and take similar action at The Paddocks near Wickford.

Filippine, Rapporto sugli sfratti : nel 2011 il più elevato numero di casi registrati dal 1994

Polizia antisommossa e impresa di demolizione si scontrano con i residenti durante l’abbattimento delle baracche nel villaggio di Corazon De Jesus nella città di San Juan (11 gennaio 2012). Secondo un’indagine condotta dall’UPA (Urban Poor Associates), associazione non-governativa per il diritto alla casa, il 2011 è stato l’anno in cui si è registrato il più elevato numero di casi di sfratto dal 1994.Tra gennaio e dicembre 2011 si contano 39 episodi di demolizione, 14.744 famiglie e 73.780 individui sfrattati. Il 92% dei casi risulta essere illegale per la mancanza dei requisiti previsti dall’Urban Development and Housing Act. Di questi episodi, sette sono sfociati nella violenza.
