We, organizations of survivors living in internally displaced persons’ [IDP] camps, as well as social and grassroots organizations, assembled for three days (May 19-21, 2011) at Fany Villa in Port-au-Prince to reflect on the problem of housing within Haiti’s longstanding crisis. La decisión de salir juntos se tomó para mostrar la unidad de los residentes y la gente que los apoya tras dos meses de presencia de simpatizantes en Dale Farm por medio de Camp Constant.

Una nueva alianza integrada por organizaciones de habitantes instauró el Jornada Mundial del Hábitat. Alrededor de quinientas organizaciones populares presentaron un memorándum al Jefe de Gobierno del Estado en el que pidieron detener los desalojos forzados y promover el diálogo con las comunidades locales, las ONG y las organizaciones sociales para encontrar soluciones apropiadas a la crisis de vivienda en Bombay, en total conformidad con el Pacto Internacional sobre los Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales.
